1939 Chevrolet Master 85 Coupe

The car we are presenting is a 1939 Master 85 Coupe. It is an all steel car that features a full restoration, completed in 2001. Everything on this car is new or rebuilt.

The small block Chevy is a custom built, fully balanced 350 bored out to 355 cid. It has flat top pistons (9.25 to 1 compression), competition 268 camshaft, double roller timing chain, and a high volume oil pump. Fuel gets to the engine via an Edelbrock aluminum manifold with an Edelbrock 600 cfm double pumper and all of it is fired by an Accel ignition. It produces an honest 350 H.P.

All of the horse power gets to the Ford 8” rear end (2:73 gears, great for cruising) through a Turbo 350 with a 2400 stall converter, shift kit, Locar shifter, and balanced drive shaft. The car can run a 14.5 in the quarter mile.

The rest of the mechanical details include: o Flow master exhaust, o Front disk brakes with under floor adjustable booster, o Stainless steel brake lines, o Boxed frame, o Tubular A-arms, o Mustang II Rack & pinion steering, o Bosch headlights (100 watt), o Front turn signals LED hidden behind grill, o American racing wheels (Torque Thrust II’s) with 15” on the front and 16” on the rear, o Toyo 205/60 15 front and Toyo 235/60 16 rear, o Custom after market plastic fuel tank, o New steering joints, o Custom Walker radiator.

As one can see from the pictures this car is finished in Volkswagen Double Yellow base cost / clear coat, with ghost flames on the hood. This bright color is complemented by a two tone grey leather interior (including the headliner). The interior work alone is close to $4,000.00 not including the $3,000.00 killer stereo system. The trunk is fully detailed and custom upholstered.

There is a remote keyless entry system, alarm, tilt wheel, reclining seats, electric wipers, eight Auto meter gauges, and a Grant steering wheel. All of this is topped off by coordinated billet aluminum touches including arm rests, window winders, and door handles (including the engine pulleys).

This car looks right, just like a well though out rod should.

Air conditioning is featured with a custom “Old Air Products” installation that blows cold.

The stereo is a Pioneer CD with remote control, Planet Audio 200 watt amp and speakers with a Planet Audio 10” woofer.

All the chrome has been re-plated including the bumpers, grill, hood ornament, side chrome, dash trim, door handles and side hood trim. It is licensed and has a clear title.

This hot rod has the right stance, the right parts, the right look and the right attitude. It is a real head turner that backs up its striking looks with outstanding performance.
