General Motors ceased production of two American icons, the Chevrolet Camaro and the Pontiac Firebird, in 2002, after production runs dating back 35 years. The St. Therese plant was shuttered, sold and leveled within 2 years, effectively ending a glorious chapter in muscle car lore.
GM has brought the Camaro back to life but 2002 will be the last year for a Trans Am, ever. The restructuring of the new GM has brought about the demise of the fabled Pontiac marque that dates back to 1926.
The Convertible we are presenting is the last of the breed. Hot Rod Magazine has identified the 2002 WS6 Trans Am as the one of Pontiac’s three best generations.
This delightful car is the rare and desirable WS6 Collectors Edition. It features one of my favorite engines, the 5.7 Liter LS1 coupled to a silky smooth 6 speed. It is a privilege to drive with more than enough power and a tuned suspension to match. I liken it to all the performance of a Corvette but with space for 4.
Our Trans Am is finished in Collector Yellow with Ebony interior and black Hartz top. It is fully optioned and came with the following equipment:
·5.7 L SFI V8 Engine
·6-speed Manual
·Limited Slip Torsen Differential
·Short/Long Arm (SLA) Frt. Suspension
·Mono-tube De Carbon Shocks
·Dual Outlet Exhaust
·4-wheel Antilock Brakes with 4 Wheel Power Disc Brakes
·Pass Key with Theft Deterrent System & Content Theft Alarm
The original owner has maintained the car to a high standard and, in fact, ordered a full GM Extended Warranty that expired in March of 2009. It has been well maintained and cared for. The Car Fax is clean on this vehicle.
The body is straight. There are no door dings or other damage. The interior has no cracks, tears, or rips. The underside of the car still sports the original factory yellow paint that indicates the car has not been driven in other than the best conditions.
We have had the car through a rigorous Out of Province Inspection and it passed with flying colors. It has been fully serviced by a General Motors Dealership.
This terrific vehicle has less than 19,000 miles on it, and comes with the window sticker and previous Arizona title. She was originally delivered to Simi Valley Pontiac GMC Buick in Simi Valley, California. Title is clear and it is currently registered in Alberta, Canada.
The LS1 engine is an outstanding blend of performance and economy. It has all the grunt you would need, plus can deliver a realistic 28 MPG on the street. Along with the North Star engine, GM got it right with the power / economy ratio and they didn’t even know it.
We enjoy the outstanding balance of handling and power. She is as well behaved cruising down the boulevard as she is holding her own at speed on the Freeways and in the Mountain Passes. She is truly a joy and pleasure to drive and tour in.
